Welcome to May all. I think we all got a bit spoiled with the warm weather the last couple of weeks, but this week has reminded us we are still in a transition. Thankfully there was warm weather the Sunday that we spruced up the gardens at Rockfield Manor. Thanks to Ken and Gail Zorbach a group of Lions and Students spent the morning weeding and mulching the area. It now is much more pleasing to visit. Just watch out for the errant shot from the Frisbee golf course near the garden. We also had Lion Colleen Murphy coordinate the roadside cleanup along Rock Springs Road. Thank you for all that attended.
At our last meeting in April we held our 3rd annual trivia night hosted by Kira of Charm City Trivia. We all had fun and learned a few things along the way. We hope to make this an annual event in the future. This was our first in person trivia night and it was much better than via Zoom.
May will again be a busy month for the Lions Club of Bel Air. Our first meeting of the month, Tuesday, May 2, will be a Zoom meeting with District Governor Elect John Mosier speaking about his vision for the upcoming year as District Governor. Our second meeting of the month is Tuesday, May 16. This will be our Italian dinner night and the wine will be BYOW. We will be entertained by the return of Dave Ellis’s band playing all the hits. Even though this is a BYOW event, if you will be bringing you favorite wine and want to share a story about where it is from and why it is your favorite, we will all enjoy hearing that.
The 10th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk will be held on Saturday morning, May 13th, at The John Carroll School. A team of Lions led by Dave and Sandy G will be walking to support the Kaufman Cancer Center.
As we move into summer in June, please remember that Tuesday June 6th is the BALC night at the Ironbirds. We have 30 Lions signed up and we hope to see you there.
Thank you all for your service to the community.
